Costs & Insurance Information
How do you pay for services?
|
Episcopal Church Home accepts many forms of payment for services. Depending on your level of care, ECH accepts:
- Private Payments
- Medical Assistance
- Medicare
- Supplemental Insurance Policies (Medica, Blue Cross, UCare, HealthPartners, etc.)
|
|
Daily rates are dependent on the individual's level of care. Rates are determined through a detailed charting process. From anywhere betwen 5 and 14 days after admission, this charting process reveals a "Case Mix" or daily rate. Services included in the daily rate are: room & board, nursing cares, activities, 3 meals a day, spiritual care, and housekeeping. Please contact the Admissions Coordinator with further questions regarding daily rates or click here for a link to the current rate sheet.

| Medical Assistance |
Those with limited income are able to apply for Medical Assistance through their county of residence. Medical Assistance will pay for Long Term Care services when you meet specific income criteria. Some Medical Assistance recipients are required to pay a monthly "spend down" due to their income level. In that case, Medical Assistance pays for the majority of services, but you may be required to allocate a portion of your income towards the remainder of the cost for services. Please visit the Minnesota Department of Human Services website to learn more about Medical Assistance. |
| Medicare |
Medicare is a health insurance program for people age 65 or older, or for people under 65 with certain disabilities. Medicare Part A provides insurance for hospitalization, short-term skilled nursing services, home health care, and hospice, but one must meet certain criteria in order to utilize benefits (e.g. stay in the hospital for 3 days before being eligible for skilled nursing services). Medicare Part B is medical insurance that helps cover your doctors' services, outpatient cares, and other services that Part A doesn't cover. Usually, residents utilizing Medicare benefits have been recently hospitalized for 3 or more days and are in need of short term rehabiliation or hospice services. Please refer to the U.S Department of Health & Human Services Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for further detail.

Supplemental Insurance
|
| Often times people choose to purchase a supplemental insurance policy in addition to Medicare, commonly referred to as a Medi-Gap policy. This policy assists with co-payments for hospitalization and short-term skilled nursing services, but can also help handle your medicare benefits as well (HMO). The Episcopal Church Home has established relationships with Blue Cross of Minnestoa, Health Partners, Medica, UCare, as well as EVERCARE, Prepaid Medical Assistance Plans (PMAP), and Minnesota Senior Health Options (MSHO) . Please contact the Admissions Coordinator with further questions regarding supplemental insurance policies. |
