Cornelia House opened is a vibrant Independent Living community for adults 62 years and older. A portrait of Cornelia Wright Whipple graces our fireplace lobby. She was the first wife of a famous Bishop of Minnesota, the Rt. Rev. Henry Benjamin Whipple. Cornelia founded St. Mary’s school in Faribault, Minnesota. It was the first boarding school in the nation to serve both Native American and Caucasian girls. Cornelia’s compassionate life’s work made her the obvious choice when Cornelia House was built and named in 2005.
Cornelia House offers competitive market rate pricing along with affordable pricing for residents with limited incomes. Visitors will find a total of 47 gracious one and two-bedroom apartment homes in a variety of inviting styles to meet the needs of our residents. Beautiful Coventry Chapel graces the west end of Cornelia House. The chapel and adjacent community rooms are spiritual and social focal points for the entire campus.
