are trained in Dementia Care
Employees of Episcopal Church Home receive training in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia as part of their orientation to the facility. Training includes: an explanation of Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders, providing activities for residents with dementia, dealing with challenging behaviors, assistance with activities of daily living and specific communication skills helpful with residents with Dementia. In addition, seminars are provided throughout the year and Alzheimer’s education is part of every employee's annual education. Employees of Episcopal Church Home are trained in person-centered care: living out values that respect the worth and dignity of those with dementia; supporting and encouraging their strengths; and sustaining meaningful life and the experience of “home.”
