Campus Amenities

Amenities you can reach from any residence on our campus without setting foot outside:

The Café

Centrally located in Episcopal Church Home, with big, sunny windows overlooking neighboring Iris Park, the Café is a mecca for campus residents, short-term rehab patients, their families and friends, and our staff. It's open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Café is popular with folks from our Independent Living residences whenever they don't feel like cooking. It's also great for afternoon treats (ice cream comes to mind), leisurely conversations with neighbors and visitors, and card games with grandkids (and great grandkids).

"It's better than fast food," says one resident, "and it costs less. Where else can you get a good hot meal for just $3.25?"

The Silver Curl Beauty Shop

The Silver Curl is located in Episcopal Church Home. Our stylists do a great job of keeping our residents looking their best (and feeling pampered) - the men as well as the women. The quality is high, the prices are affordable, and if you're mobility challenged, our stylists will escort you to and from your appointment.

The Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is located adjacent to the Café. Along with greeting cards, gifts, snacks and sundries, you'll find adaptive tools like "reachers." Best of all, if you should happen to stop by after hours and find an item you just must have right now, you can pay for it at the Church Home's front desk until 8:00 any evening. That's a gift all by itself!

Scheduled Transportation

Our bus provides all of our residences (including Carty Heights near University and Lexington) with weekly transportation to a variety of shopping destinations. In addition, each residence uses the bus for special adventures planned by their respective Resident Councils. To borrow an old slogan from Greyhound, "Take the bus, and leave the driving to us!"

Monthly Concerts at Coventry Chapel

While each of our residences has its own calendar of musical events, the concerts at Coventry Chapel are always something special. The music ranges from Classical to Choral to Spiritual, Seasonal, Swing and beyond. "Sometimes I shut my eyes and think I'm at the Ordway or Orchestra Hall," says one resident. That's not surprising, because some of the performers have played those venues. Families and friends are always welcome, and refreshments are always served after the concerts. The music and the conversations that follow it bring everyone a little closer and make our community a little stronger. Welcome home!

Amenities just outside our doors:

Our Own Park

It's green, inviting, and right on our campus. It has a walking path, park benches, and a pond with a fountain. Every spring, our residents adopt Mama Duck and her ducklings, and love spoiling them with gifts of corn and bread crumbs.

Iris Park

It's a city park just across the street, and it has a pond with a fountain too. Our residents love it, and so do our ducks. In fact, Mama Duck can't decide which park she likes better because she marches her brood back-and-forth between the two ponds every day until the ducklings are grown and fly the coop until the next spring. There are three large planters in Iris Park. Residents from Episcopal Church Home put in new annuals every spring, and our maintenance staff waters the flowers every day. Every fall, there's a big neighborhood block party with live music. We donate burgers, brats, potato salad, cole slaw and fresh-popped popcorn. It's always a good time, and it's a great opportunity for our campus community to connect with the surrounding community.
